CMBTC visited by the Institute Guild of Brewing North American Study Group

WINNIPEG – Fourteen members of the 2004 IGB Global Brewing Study Course visited the Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre October 14th as part of their studies in malting and brewing. The group consisted of brewers from the UK, Holland, Australia, Africa and Mexico. They took part in a day long program of lectures and practical work, in the state-of-the-art CMBTC Pilot malthouse and brewery, designed to assist them in their understanding of brewing and malting.

"We at CMBTC are extremely honoured that IGB included us as one of their visits on their North American Study Tour" said Rob McCaig Managing Director of the CMBTC. “We find ourselves in good company in that the other visits on their tour included such world-class facilities as Coors in Denver, Anheuser-Busch Ft. Collins, SABMiller in Milwaukee and Molson in Toronto”.

The attendees found the visit to have provided them with valuable information for their upcoming brewing examinations. Andrea Williams of the IGB said that “ The visit to CMBTC was a valuable experience for the participants to get hands-on experience in malting and brewing and that CMBTC would certainly be included in future study programs”.
